    Training

At West Point Ballet, your children will not only learn to dance but also enhance their overall fitness and nurture their creativity in a stimulating environment. They will have the opportunity to build lasting friendships and become part of a warm, supportive community that values each individual. Our training program is dedicated to providing high-quality dance education while attentively caring for the well-being of every student. We foster a respectful and encouraging atmosphere where each dancer can flourish both as an artist and as a person. Even our youngest students benefit from thoughtfully designed classes, ensuring they learn something new in every session through a carefully structured curriculum that supports steady progress.

    Classroom Etiquette

Arriving on time, ideally 10 to 15 minutes before class begins, is essential for full participation and maintaining safety standards. Students who arrive more than 10 minutes late cannot join the session, as they will have missed critical warm-up exercises. Demonstrating respect for instructors goes beyond punctuality—it includes being fully attentive and focused throughout the class. Studio rules are carefully reviewed at the start of each semester to ensure a productive and harmonious environment. Every child progresses at their own unique pace, and natural growth spurts can temporarily influence their technique. Rather than comparing your child to others, it is far more constructive to encourage them to reflect on their individual development over time. Advancement to the next level is granted only after students have satisfactorily met all necessary technical requirements. Parents are always welcome to reach out to teachers with any questions or concerns they may have.

A dress code in ballet is important for several reasons. It helps students stay disciplined and serious about their training. It also allows teachers to clearly see body alignment and movements for better guidance. Wearing the right clothes creates unity and reduces distractions in class. Lastly, it gets dancers ready for real ballet settings, where specific outfits are needed for rehearsals and shows.

  • Each division has a specific uniform that the dancers are required to wear . The uniform helps create a sense of discipline and order while allowing the teachers to see what their bodies are doing. All female students are required to have their hair secured in a bun, with pins, hairnet, and headpiece according to level (no headpiece for children's division). This may require some at home practice as this is sometimes a daunting task. Please ask us if you need help! Students without the designated attire will not be
    allow in class.

  • Please make sure that your dancer has the proper fitting shoes for whatever class they take. It is especially important to monitor young children’s shoes, as they grow quickly and you need to make sure the shoes always fit properly. Please ensure your dancer has the right shoes for the right class. (See dress code for your division). School and Pre-Professional Division are required to have ribbons on their
    technique shoes.

West Point Ballet trains from a traditional and classical syllabus in which it is the standaArd attire for girls. Ribbons create a better aesthetic for the visual art of ballet.
