School Division
Students enter the School Division, start the formal study of Classical Ballet. Placement is based on the dancer’s technical abilities, not necessarily their ages. Hours and days of training increase with the level of study. Promotion to the next level of study is totally at the teacher’s discretion, with the student’s best interest in mind.
New students will be evaluated by West Point Ballet prior to class placement
Classical ballet terminology and basic exercises are introduced at the barre and center. Emphasis is on the positioning of the feet and arms, carriage of the body, posture, and mostly flexibility and strength.
